Hello and Happy Sunday (or happy whatever day you might be reading this)! I generally have a sacred Sunday morning filled with doing mindful things, relaxing, listening to quiet music, journaling and sometimes I tune into a podcast that I’ve been saving to listen to. It was this morning’s podcast that inspired me to write this email today.
The podcast is Andrew Gallimore on the Danny Jones podcast. Andrew talks about some of his experiences and studies of the indigenous molecule that most living things contain: NN-Dimethyltriptamine or DMT. A subject near and dear to my heart, I enjoyed listening to Andrew talk about some of the studies that have been done on the brain and how DMT uniquely turns the part of the brain on that is responsible for sight, even if someone has their eyes closed, further validating the school of thought that a different dimension is being accessed when someone uses DMT or Ayahuasca.
Another very interesting part of the conversation was when Danny asked Andrew about Artificial Intelligence and LLMs. Andrew makes a wonderful case for why it is so important to have things that are human made. He talks about how if we continue to allow artificial intelligence to write our emails, texts, and school papers, we will forget how to write at all. He stressed how meaningful it is to him when he experiences art or a good book written by a human and brings up the quote that goes something like “books make me feel like I’m not alone.”
These are all great prompts for discussion and thought. For those of you who love philosophical discussions, this may be a great topic to bring to your next gathering.

It was during this part of the podcast that I decided to commit to writing more and continuing to develop my love of art, writing, singing, and more human things. You can count on all of our newsletters being human (mostly by me) written. I recalled why my first degree is in English and how my senior seminar was in Shakespeare. Humans are so uniquely creative and capable of manifesting beauty in the world. Give the human made podcast a listen and let me know what you think. If nothing else, maybe you will consider writing more, or spending time in a creative mode with regularity.
AI may one day be very good at writing stories or creating art, but ultimately if there isn’t true consciousness behind it, will it just feel empty? Don’t we really just want to recognize a part of ourselves in someone else when we read their books, see their art, hear their songs?Very curious what you think. Thanks for not judging my grammatical imperfections and if you do, isn’t that yet another part of being human? Leave a comment after you listen to the podcast and share your thoughts!
All my love and Sunday Human Inspiration,
Shelley
